Special visitors
This week the CEO of the MAT, Headteachers of Warlingham, Bletchingley and Woodlea, visited Hamsey Green. They visited classes and talked to the pupils about their learning as well as about reading at Hamsey Green. The visitors commended our pupils on their excellent manners, behaviour and enthusiasm as well as their clarity in sharing knowledge about their topics and the schools reading focus. The pupil’s books were also commented upon of being outstanding!
School Photographs
Don’t forget if you wish to return your order form to the school your proofs must be returned by Monday 4th November at the latest. You are also able to place orders on-line on the Kittle Photographic website.
Say No to Bullying – a handbook for Parents
We have Say No to Bullying handbooks, available for parents. They cost £1 and are available on School Money to purchase (in Shop, where school uniform is purchased). These booklets give advice as to what bullying is and how to prevent bullying. Once purchased, these will be distributed via your child.
Friends of Hamsey Green
If you are able to help with any events or would like to be involved with other like-minded parents in supporting the School with fundraising events, please email friends@hamsey.surrey.sch.uk indicating what you are able to do. Thank you.
Aldi Stickers for Kit
Thank you very much for the large number of stickers the children have brought into school. We have already filled one poster and are about a third of the way through our second. If you still have stickers at home the children can bring them to school and give them to their class teacher to put on our poster. The deadline for us sending our poster is approaching so please can any stickers be brought to school by Monday 11th November.
Poppy Appeal
Thank you for your kindness and generosity for this year’s Poppy Appeal. Our two year 6 helpers have done a fantastic job over this week and we now have no items left for the children to choose from.
Half term
We hope that you all have a safe half term holiday next week, we return to school on Monday 4th November. Please remember to book any school dinners that may be required for that week. As you may notice when you come to book the dinners, the menu has changed; so please take this opportunity over half term to familiarise yourself with the new choices. Can we also remind you that Packed lunches should be healthy, please can we ask that you do not send in sweets and chocolate bars as part of their lunch, thank you for your co-operation.
Please also remember that the clocks go back on Sunday!
Headteacher’s Newsletter
Don’t forget to read this half term’s Headteacher’s newsletter. It is also available on our website.
SESDA (South East Surrey Dyslexia Association)
Please click here for information on the next SESDA meeting on Thursday 7th November. This a free event for parents of children with Dyslexia.
The Words of the Week were
Infants - Protective ‘wanting to keep someone safe and away from harm’
- Dishonest ‘behaving in an untrustworthy manner. Lying’
Juniors - Insurgent ‘a person rebelling against the authority’
- Allegiant ‘to be devoutly dedicated to a cause’
Riddle of the Week for pupils (last answer: one was bald!)
If everyone bought a white car, what would we have?
